 Project Update (April '2002)

The progress report of work for the workshed project at the village Dhamadka
Ta: Anjar.                      As on  2.4.2002

The infrastructure available with the artisans of the village Dhamadka and round about villages was completely destroyed due to the Earthquake  of 26th January 2001. This rendered the artisans jobless. The efforts in the  direction of  rehabilitating  these artisans were started immediately. The detailed survey was carried out and 112 +1=113 artisans were identified who were in need of new worksheds.

Design & estimate

A few  alternatives were tried and finally design offered  by  VGS ( appointed a structural Engineer Mr. Sanjay Desai) has been accepted by the artisans .The total Built-up area of the workshed comes to 400sq.ft.+160 sq.ft open floor(OTALA). The roof  will be R.C.C. and not with  tiles or sheets. Each such workshed will cost Rs. 1,10,000/- which includes the Administrative & other Service Charges also.

Progress in work:

The Masonry work of 40 worksheds at Dhamadka and nearby villages has been started. The inquiries of Door/ Windows and shutters have been under process. The approximate plan is that the complete work of 40 sheds will be finished up to July end. The labor work has been distributed among local persons.

At Ajarakhpur, 73 units have been completed up to plinth level and contract of the labor work has been signed with two( 35+38) different contractors. 

Cement Block Factory at Ajarakhpur has been started from 31.3.2002. The 73 units of ajarakhpur are likely to be completed up to August 15, 2002.

Abhiyan will provide technical guidance for the project; therefore, the MOU with Abhiyan has been signed. Mr. Pritesh Shah from VRTI is looking after the whole project with co-operation of Kishor (VGS).

The expenses so far made are up to Rs. 10,50,000.00 (Apx).
