Dear all,

 

I am sure that you would have heard of the devastating Tsunamis that hit India, Sri Lanka and other parts of Asia.Volunteers for India Development and Empowerment ( VIDE ) is seeking your help in its efforts to provide immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation to the victims.  VIDE is already in touch with various grass-roots disaster relief agencies active in the worst-affected areas of coastal TamilNadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.  One of our partner NGO is currently present in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.  Andaman and Nicobar Islands have borne the brunt of the fury of the waves owing to their proximity to the epicenter of the Earthquake.

 

How can you help?

o    Please donate liberally for immediate relief.  There is an IMMEDIATE need for drinking water, food and medicines.

      VIDE has already earmarked $10,000 for immediate relief but the magnitude of the disaster demands assistance of far greater magnitude.  Please donate as much as you can to help us provide for essential human needs. 

     

 

o    We are not currently organizing a drive to collect non-cash items such as blankets, clothes etc. due to logistic difficulties.  We might network with an organization that does this and we will keep you informed of any possibilities for such donations soon.

o    The BEST way to help is to provide local aid agencies with cash immediately to help them buy the essential supplies. Please donate liberally to our relief drive. Please make a cheque to "VIDE" and forward it to one of the contacts mentioned below or mail it to

o    We need volunteers in each building to collect funds and also volunteers to help out with funds processing. Please contact Avinash Tadimalla (atadmill@cisco.com) if you are interested in helping out.

 

o    We would also like to extend our co-operation and assistance to any aid agencies or volunteers active in providing relief to other badly affected parts of Asia such as Sri Lanka and Indonesia.Please provide any information on aid agencies active in providing relief in these areas.
